At Windy Ridge, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the support they need to learn, grow, and achieve to the best of their ability.

SENCo

Our learning support systems are centrally managed by our Deputy Principal and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). The SENCo ensures our school remains fully inclusive, coordinating individual learning plans, managing resources and connecting Windy Ridge whānau with external agencies and Ministry of Education specialists.

Literacy & Numeracy Support

At Windy Ridge, we aim to ensure that all learners can be the best they can be. We have amazing classroom teachers who scaffold their lessons to meet most learners’ needs right inside the classroom.

However, now and again, a child benefits from a little extra support to give them a boost.

When assessments such as regular classroom tracking, teacher observations and parent feedback show a child needs further support to meet year-level expectations, we wrap around them with specialised small group targeted support.

  • Specialist Teacher Support: For more intensive or specific learning requirements, our dedicated Literacy and Maths Specialist Teachers design and run intervention programmes.

  • Skilled Teacher Aides: Our well-trained, highly skilled Teacher Aides deliver excellent, targeted booster programmes to support daily classroom learning, they work within the classroom to support learners.

Whether working with a specialist teacher or a teacher aide, our goal is simple: to close learning gaps, build confidence and ensure every child flourishes
