Week 7
News from the Tumuaki / Principal
Kia ora e te whānau o Windy Ridge School
The sun has been out this week, and the children have been enjoying being outside. It has been great to see them being sunsmart and wearing their sunhats.
We have had a great week with several exciting events. On Wednesday, our English Language Learners, who work with Donna Walker and Tania Stephens, celebrated the year and their cultures with a shared lunch and musical presentation. Many of their families attended, and it was a beautiful way to come together and value and celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our Windy Ridge whānau. Thank you, Donna, Tania and Tracey for orgnaising and making this event such a success.
The following day, the school got behind our Travel-Wise Team and Student Leaders to enjoy a wheels and fun day. The leaders organised a water slide and field games along with a wheels event, where the children raced around the school on their bikes, skateboards, scooters and roller skates. There were also many squeals of delight as the children sped down the waterslide, which was a great way to cool off on a hot day. Thank you to Jane Brown and the student leaders for a wonderful event.
In partnership with The National Youth Theatre Group, today, a group of Kōtare and Tūī students attended 'Alice a Wonderland Musical.' Opportunities like these allow our children to experience the Arts, often developing new interests and passions.
Next week, we are excited about our community event on Thursday, when the whole school will be singing carols and festive songs. The children have been busy practising and are looking forward to sharing some festive joy with you all. Sausages and ice cream can be ordered on Kindo; otherwise, bring a picnic and enjoy the sunshine with friends and family. Come and set up a spot on the field from 4:00 p.m., with singing beginning at 5:00 p.m. If you are able to bake for the bake sale please bring any baking to the school hall from 3:00 p.m.
On Friday, we have our annual prize giving and Year 6 graduation. Families of those winning awards will have received an email invite. We encourage all Year 6 families to attend. The event begins at 9:00 a.m., with a coffee cart on site from 8:00 a.m.
We are now in the final weeks of the school year. If your child will not attend Windy Ridge School in 2025, please email the office to let us know.
