Welcome to Week 7
News from the Principal
Kia ora e te whānau,
Last week, I had the opportunity to work with a group of tamariki as part of our whole school Matariki learning. It was a pleasure to observe our tamariki from across the school working collaboratively. During this time, I observed many of the schools’ dispositions and values in action from atawhai - kindness and manawaroa - resilience through to creativity and critical thinking while developing the concepts of mana and identity. I look forward to the following two Fridays as I get to know more of the tamariki and work with them.
A special mention to our Kōtare Team, who shared their beautiful artwork based on the legend of 'How Maui Slowed the Sun' at our whole school assembly. It is always enjoyable to see our tamariki proudly sharing their learning on stage with their whānau and school community.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Teachers have been busy behind the scenes updating Hero with tamariki's learning goals and mid-year achievement. From Monday, 1 July, you will be able to access your child's achievement information and learning goals on Hero which will form the basis for the parent-teacher conferences held on Wednesday, 3 July. You can book a time to meet with your child's teacher through Hero; you will receive a notification via Hero when bookings are open. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to talk with your child's teacher about their learning and progress, celebrate their achievements, and discuss their next steps.
After School
A friendly reminder that children should be collected by 3:10pm. Children should not be left to play on the playground alone after this time while they wait to be collected. If you are running late, please call the school office so we can ensure all children are safe.
