Welcome to Week 7
News from the Principal
Kia ora e te whānau
It's not just students that are the learners here at team Windy, teachers are learners too! Last night you may have noticed a very empty carpark and empty classrooms. Our teachers are part of the Kaipatiki Kahui Ako, a community of learners (teachers) who aim to collaborate and strengthen pathways for students throughout their education journey.
I attended a Māori Liaison Hui where I met Kaimahi from Glenfield Intermediate, Birkdale Intermediate, Marlborough Primary, Marlborough Kindergarten, Wairau Valley Special School, Bayview Primary, Target Road Primary, Glenfield Primary and Manuka Primary.
Other teachers at team Windy attended workshops and huis on: Teaching Reading strategies in the classroom, Positive Behaviour for Learning, Effective play in the early years, Happiness and Auditory communication, Structured Literacy and Dyslexic children and using Google apps for education support - Wow! not only do we have a talented bunch of teachers here at team Windy, we have talented teachers across our Kahui Ako.
These sessions are all designed to collectively build our teachers knowledge and to provide a platform for teachers to network and share best practice. Next time you are chatting to a teacher - ask them about what they learned and what being in the League of Teaching Super Heroes means to them!
Have a great week everyone.
