Week 3
News from the Tumuaki / Principal
Kia ora e te whānau o Windy Ridge School
Many of you will have noticed the diggers and construction crew working around the back of the school. They are preparing the ground for building a much-needed new caretaker's shed. The children are already interested in this change and have been enjoying watching the digger at work. Keep an eye on the area as it is transformed. To ensure disruption to learning is kept to a minimum, much of the noisy work is being completed before or after school whenever possible.
National Youth Theatre Scholarships
Next year we have been lucky to partner with the National Youth Theatre, who have gifted us five scholarships for our students aged ten or above. This means five of our students will join the cast of 'Seussical the Musical' early next year. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to provide this opportunity to our students and we are excited to see them on stage. We look forward to developing our relationship with the National Youth Theatre.
Looking to 2025
At the beginning of the year, we will welcome two new staff members, Simone Nair and Kerrie Little, to our Year 0/1 teaching team in a job-share role. Together, they bring a wealth of experience teaching new entrants and supporting children in their transition into school. We look forward to them joining the Windy Ridge whānau and will officially welcome them at the beginning of 2025 alongside our new families and children.
We are beginning to plan for 2025. If your child will not be returning to Windy Ridge School for 2025 (and is not currently in Year 6), please email office@windyridge.school.nz to let us know. This information helps with planning classes and staffing.
Our first day of school is Wednesday, 5th February 2025. You can find our 2025 dates by following this link - 2025 Dates
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle
On Sunday, 24 November, the PTA has organised a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Glenfield. They will be looking for volunteers to help man the BBQ and sell sausages. Any help is greatly appreciated and is a great way to meet new people, develop relationships, and support the school. You do not need to be a member of the PTA to help out. Please email Chris at pta@windyridge.school.nz if you are able to help out on the day.
