Week 2
News from the Tumuaki / Principal
Kia ora e te whānau o Windy Ridge School
Today, our Tūī Team shared their experiences of camp during our first whole school assembly for the term. In the final week of last term, our Year 5 & 6 tamarki attended Camp Carey, where they had many opportunities to try new experiences and display the school value of manawaroa (resilience). We also had many certificate winners who have been showing our school values of atawhai (kindness), manawaroa (resilience), manaakitanga (respect) and hōnore (integrity).
"Drop, Cover, Hold" was the phrase of the week as the whole school took part in the annual 'Shake Out.' Our tamariki followed the instructions and guidance of their teachers and support staff, showing they knew what to do if there was an earthquake. By practising this drill, we remind everyone of the best way to keep themselves safe during an earthquake. If you have not practised yourself, ask your child what to do and have a mini-practise at home. Further information can be found at https://getready.govt.nz/
Photolife visited our school this week, and the tamariki had their individual, sibling and class photos taken. You will soon receive a special code to order your child's photographs.
We need your thoughts...
At Windy Ridge School, we have a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) that works alongside the school to raise funds to provide additional learning opportunities and resources for all our tamariki to access. They are currently reviewing their constitution, which was shared via Hero earlier this week. To have your say in the refreshed constitution, please email the PTA at pta@windyridge.school.nz with any suggestions.
Reminders...
All tamariki must wear a sun hat daily during Term 4 to protect themselves from the sun. I ask that you ensure your child's hat is named and in their bag daily.
