New to School
Domestic Enrolments
If you live within our school zone, we invite you to enroll your child - It is essential that this is done before their fifth birthday. If you are interested in making an out of zone application, please speak to our school office who will be able to assist you
FIRST DAY WELCOME
We hold a Pōwhiri on the first day of each term to officially welcome students and whānau to our school.
OPEN MORNINGS, ENROLMENT AND ORIENTATION
We invite prospective families to attend one of our open mornings which we hold twice each term. You and your child will get to meet the Principal and the Junior Team Leader who will take you on a school tour. This is a great opportunity for you to observe our wonderful school in action and ask questions.
When you are ready to enroll your child, Mrs. Boyce and Mrs. Yiu will assist you to complete the paperwork formalities.
Before starting school, we will invite your child to attend an orientation visit.
COHORT ENTRY
New 5 year olds start at the beginning of each term, in cohort entry. Cohort entry involves a group of similarly aged new entrant students starting school together, rather than individually. Students must be 5 years old or above to start school, beginning on the closest start date to occur after their fifth birthday. Cohort entry helps children to transition more positively into school, build relationships with their classmates and supports a smoother entry to school life.

OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENT
In order to maintain the optimum size of our school, we operate an enrolment scheme. While those children living in our school zone have an automatic entitlement to enrolment, others need to make a special application to be considered through a ballot process. Please contact the school office for full information on the ballot process and dates of ballots. If you have any questions that relate to the out of zone process please email office@windyridge.school.nz
