Collaborative Teaching and Learning
At Windy Ridge School, we pride ourselves on our collaborative approach to teaching and learning. While each student is assigned to a specific whānau room where part of their learning takes place, they also work with other teachers and students within the team. This ensures that individual learning needs are more effectively met by the whole team.
Through collaboration, students work with a wider range of their peers and are able to collaborate on shared tasks and projects.
Research concludes,(Marjan Laal and Seyed Mohammad Ghods, 2012) that collaborative learning generates higher achievement and greater productivity, enhanced empathy, supportive and committed relationships, and improved psychological health, social competence and self-esteem.
Teachers at WRS plan collaboratively, and share their knowledge and expertise, therefore, maximising teaching and learning outcomes for our students.
