Well Done Everyone for a Great Year!
In our final newsletter of the year, I would like to say a massive well done to all of our children, teachers and community for having completed the end of 2022. When we started back in February none of us knew quite how the year was going to go, with Covid still very much in control. During the middle of the year, thankfully Omicron case numbers reduced and we were able to transition towards a greater level of normality. Winter illness was still a major issue and for many households, you battled colds and flu. Despite all of this we should feel proud of our many achievements. We have been able to reconnect as a community and share in cultural and learning celebrations. Our students have been able to participate in sporting events and we have even managed to go on some EOTC trips, including the Year 5 and Year 6 Camp.
I’d like to pay a special thanks to all of the staff at Windy Ridge for a great year. They have worked tirelessly to support the children. I’d also like to thank Miss Maxwell and my leadership team for their support. And lastly thank you to our wonderful support and Office staff. The mark of a great school is the way it works together and Windy Ridge certainly has worked together beautifully during 2022.
As we sign the year off, I’d also like to wish a fond farewell to our leavers, especially our Year 6s who are moving on to their next schools. We wish them every success in the future.
Reports and Class Placements
End of Year reports, class placement and attendance notices will be going home on Friday after Prizegiving, so please look out for your child’s envelope.
Whānau Connect
A reminder about the Whānau Connect days at the start of next year. We have set aside 20 minute appointment slots on Thursday 2nd February (12:30 pm – 6:20 pm) and Friday 3 February (9:00 am – 3:00 pm) for teachers, students and parents to meet and get to know each other before we move back into class. We are really hoping that every family will book a time for their whānau connect meeting.
Students will be visiting their new classes and meeting their next year’s teachers tomorrow morning and bookings will open tomorrow at 3:00 pm https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code/ysjde
Students will attend school for their first full day back in the classroom Tuesday 7 February.
I wish everybody a happy, peaceful and restful summer, and for those who celebrate the festival a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
