Tēnā koutou katoa,

Welcome back to Term 2 –  we hope that you all had a great holiday and were able to enjoy the stunning weather. We have all returned to school rested and excited about Term 2.

Bike Licences

Our first week back has been full of excitement with Constable Steve Harwood working with some of our Year 5/6 students assessing them in order for them to get their Bike Licences. It has been encouraging to see so many students sign up, indeed, Constable Harwood is going to need to come back on Monday 31 May to complete the licencing for those children who didn’t get to work with him this time.

This term we will be running a full programme of extra-curricular weekly activities. We are lucky to have teachers at Windy Ridge who are able to share their passions and talents with our tamariki. Those interested should speak with the teacher who will be running the activities.

Thank you Glenfield Lions Club

A big thank you to Mr Dave Whiting and the Glenfield Lions Club for kindly donated Bunnings gift vouchers to our school this week.  Vouchers were donated to them as a result of not being able to run a sausage sizzle during the lockdown and they decided to forward the vouchers to some of the local schools.  We will put the money to good use on projects in and around our school as we work to improve our property.

The Lions Club does amazing work across New Zealand raising much-needed funds to help community projects and initiatives.  The Lions are always looking for new members so if you are interested in finding out more, why don’t you give Dave Whiting from the Glenfield Lions a call on 027-471-9076 or view the Lions website

Have a great weekend everyone,

Ka kite anō au i a koutou.

Jonathan Lambert

  • WINDY RIDGE PARENTS Facebook – We have a closed Facebook page for Windy Ridge parents – please send a friend request to be part of this page, we are only able to accept parents and caregivers to this page.  It is a valuable page for reminders, information, and general WRS ‘stuff.
  • Walking School Bus –   We have 2 Walking School Buses at WRS.  They leave from Stephanie Close and Hiwihau Place.  Most of them leave around 8.15am in the morning to get the students to school for 8.30am.  If you would like your child(ren) to come on the Walking School Bus AND are able to help just one morning or afternoon a week, see Mrs Yiu in the office for a form and she will pass your details on to the right person.  The Walking School Buses are solely run by awesome volunteers so your help is always appreciated.
  • Spare Clothing –  We recommend the students always have a change of clothes in their bags.
  • Head Lice – Please check your child’s hair weekly as unfortunately head lice are very common in the community. We have attached the link to the Ministry of Education parent information website with more information.  For advice on treatments:   Will my child have to stay away from school? No, the school will not exclude your child or ask you to keep them at home because they have lice. You don’t need to keep your child at home while you’re treating lice either. We have combs available in the office, but also your local chemist and supermarket will sell products.
