Much Excitement with the Kōtare Itis

The excitement on the faces of the Kōtare Iti students and teachers as they moved into their newly renovated classes this week was a sheer delight to see and made the hard work that so many people put into the renovations really worthwhile. A huge shout out to the property team who have worked to plan, design and renovate the rooms. A special thank you goes to our very special Mrs Boyce who has put her heart and soul into supporting the project.  A huge ka pai to teachers who packed moved and prepared the rooms for learning;  also Darren and Lew our caretakers.

“We love our new class, it has new walls and funky carpet and best of all it has refreshing airconditioning.” Heline and Violeta (R6)

Easter Themed Picnic

As you will all be aware from the flyer which went home this afternoon and the advertisement in last week’s newsletter, we are full steam ahead for our Easter Themed Community Picnic on Wednesday 31 March between 5:00-7:00 pm.  We are hoping that many of you will be able to join us to picnic and spend time with us on the field (weather permitting).  The classrooms will be open and you will get a chance to meet your teachers and chat with them.  PTA will also be putting on a sausage sizzle and there will some Easter competitions.  We really look forward to celebrating our amazing school community

Easter Wheels Day

Next Thursday, we are having an Easter-themed Wheels Day. Bikes, scooters, skateboards and skates are all welcome. No electric wheels. Helmets and covered shoes must be worn. Our Travelwise team will be giving out spot prizes for decorated wheels. So get your child’s wheels ready and bling them with an Easter theme.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Ka kite anō au i a koutou.

Sports

Netball – We are collecting interest for the 2021 Netball Season. This is open to year 1-6.  All games will be held at the Glenfield College Netball courts, game times will be between 9:00 – 12:00 depending on the grade. We will be wearing Windy Ridge School T shirts this year which you can purchase for $15 at the office, and black bottoms. Leggings or shorts will be fine. Fees for the season are $85 per player. As always, we will require coaches/managers for each team. You do not have to run a practice, but should you choose to, I can help with space and equipment for you and your team.

Please let me know if you have any questions, office@windyridge.school.nz

Registration is through Kindo and is due by April 1st. NB: Some games for the year 4-6 team may be moved to Westlake Girls depending on the number of teams in the area that register. If there are not enough teams in the grade then the games will be moved. Please be aware of this.

Have Your Say

Like many other schools, we use the services of School Docs who design policies for many New Zealand schools; updating them to reflect current legislation.  Periodically parents are asked to review certain policies.  This month parents are invited to have their say around the Home Learning.  If you would like to participate in the review:

  1. Visit the website https://windyridge.schooldocs.co.nz/1893.htm
  2. Enter the username (windyridge) and password (WRS0629).
  3. Follow the link to the relevant policy as listed.
  4. Read the policy.
  5. Click the Policy Review button at the top right-hand corner of the page.
  6. Select the reviewer type “Parent”.
  7. Enter your name (optional).
  8. Submit your ratings and comments.
  9. If you don’t have internet access, school office staff can provide you with printed copies of the policy and a review form.
