Staffing Update

It is with regret that I have to announce that Ms. Lynley Bendall will be leaving Windy Ridge at the end of term. We congratulate her for successfully securing a team leadership position at another school on the North Shore.  We will be sad to see her go, but wish her every success in her exciting new role.

I am glad to announce that Mr. Nick Upton who has been working in Fantails this year and Mrs. Moira Bryant, a long term Windy Ridge part-time teacher will be filling Ms. Bendall’s position in 2021.

Helpers Morning Tea

I would like to invite parents and friends of Windy Ridge who have supported us on trips and at school events throughout the year to join myself and the staff at a helpers morning tea on Thursday 3 December between 10:30 – 11:00 am in the Staff Room. We put this special morning tea on to say a big thank you. We look forward to seeing you there.

BigFoot Adventures

On Wednesday the Falcon students enjoyed an amazing day of team building and adventures out on our school field. The fast-paced day saw the children working together as they rotated around a collection of engaging and challenging activities, competing for points as they went. As well as being huge fun, children developed their communication and problem-solving skills while engaging in trust building adventures.  A big thank you to BigFoot Adventures ltd who came into our school to lead the day; also the teachers and parents who helped make the day such a success. What a great learning through play experience.

Staff Jolly

If parents are not believing their eyes when they see teachers clip-clopping around the school in quasi Monty Pythonesque horse canters, wearing traffic cones on their heads or geckoing around the walls then your eyes are not deceiving you.  Miss Kim is running a Hunger Games activity amongst the staff with us trying to eliminate each other while having huge fun trying to be the last person standing. It’s the mark of a true learning through play school that sees its teachers deeply engaged in their own games.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Ka kite anō au i a koutou

School Sports – I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the students and whanau that participated in school sports this year. Without the volunteer coaches, our teams would not be possible. Your commitment is very much appreciated by our staff, the families and students. It has obviously been a very challenging year with many sports games and events missed. It has been wonderful to be able to end the year on a very positive note having completed our Spring League Netball Season, our Fun Run, and our Athletics Day. We have a few games remaining for our Basketball teams and our Touch teams. Well done to all those who participated in school sports and interschool sports this year. – Sarah Turner
