News from the Principal

Nga mihi nui kia koutou katoa

I have appreciated the many kind words from families about my plans for 2020.  Windy Ridge has been, and will continue to be, a very special place for me.  However the opportunity to work in an area of personal passion and professional interest was one I couldn’t turn down.  I leave knowing that the school is in excellent hands and proud of the contributions I have made in the last 9 years.   I look forward to enjoying the last weeks here with you.

We are in the process of organising class and teams for 2020.  However with my leaving we have had to go back to the drawing board in relation to staff responsibilities for terms 1 and 2, so there may be some changes to structure and organisation.  We still anticipate having this information out to you by the end of this school year.

Changes for 2020

If you are making changes to family plans over the holidays could you please let the office know as soon as possible eg: change of address, phone numbers, moving schools etc.

Stomach Bug

We are continuing to see cases of this in school.  We would ask that if your child vomits and is unwell please keep them at home for a least 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.  We are taking precautions in the classrooms to help limit the spread. Please contact your doctor if you have any concerns. For more information see the below link to the Ministry of Health guidelines

Athletics Day

We have athletics day scheduled for next week. Monday we will have the Falcon and Tui students participate, and Tuesday we will have the Pukeko and Fantail students participate. These events will be finished by lunch time. On Tuesday, the finalists for all age groups will compete in the track finals. The weather is currently forecast for rain, if we have to postpone Monday we will have the Falcon and Tui students participate on Tuesday and choose another date for the Pukekos and Fantails. Thank you to those parents who have let me know they will be coming along and can help supervise children.
For all children please remember to send your child on the day with sensible athletic clothing and shoes, plenty of food and water and a hat and sunscreen.
Any delays will be posted on the Windy Ridge Facebook page – Here is the schedule for both days – Athletics Days 2019
