News from the Principal

Planning for 2018
We are currently organising our school classes and staffing for 2018.  We have a number of staffing positions to fill and are in the middle of this process at the moment.   Our year level groups are larger in the senior school than in previous years so that will allow us to have the following teams next year:
  • Tui Team – year 5 and 6
  • Falcon Team – year 3 and 4
  • Pukeko Team – year 1 and 2
  • Fantail Team – year 0 and 1
We consider many factors when making decisions about class placements; age, time since enrolment, previous class placements, maturity, social needs, academic strengths and needs, history of intervention or support, work and study skills, independence and resilience.  As with previous years, placements for 2018 will be shared with families at the end of this year, and children will met their new teacher and class on the last day of term.

Pasifica – Pacific Islands Cultural Group

We are delighted to acknowledge a group of parent volunteers who have offered to start a Pacific Islands Cultural Group.  We have started by inviting all the children that identify as Pacific Islanders to take part this term, and then hope to open it up to other students next year once we know better what is involved and what our capacity is.  It is very exciting and our goal is to have a performance for the Final assembly this year.  Many thanks to Pops, Losa, Motu, Ilaisa and Mata for offering to help with this group.
Road Patrol Training
Due to illness this will now take place on Friday 17th during the morning.  Those children attending Onepoto Festival will do their training after morning tea.  Due to unprecedented senior student numbers this will be the last year that we will train year 4 students.
