Windy Ridge School – Board of Trustees

Casual Vacancy for an elected trustee.

A casual vacancy has occurred on the board of trustees for an elected parent representative.  The board has resolved under Section 105 of the Education Act 1989 to fill the vacancy by selection.  If ten per cent or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held.
Any eligible voter who wishes to ask the board to hold a by-election should write to:
Board of Trustees

54 Seaview Road
(This information will also been advertised  in the North Shore Times Advertiser tomorrow and has been posted on the school Facebook page.)
Health Information
Please be aware that Auckland continues to be challenged by a number of contagious diseases, some of which are notifiable to the Ministry of Health.   We have been informed of cases of Slap Cheek and Chicken Pox at our school and have provided information for families on these.

To stop sickness from spreading, students should be kept at home when they are ill. How long they should be at home depends on their illness.  In the case of some illnesses, the decision about whether to exclude students or staff will be made by the Medical Officer of Health.

The Ministry of Health gives advice on when students and staff should stay away from school when they are unwell with a more serious infection/illness.

In the case of an outbreak of a serious infection/illness, it is useful to know who has been vaccinated against the infection/illness. Our school keeps a record of immunisation information to help identify students at risk. We encourage parents to keep their child’s immunisations up to date.  If parents are unsure about their child’s immunity (or anyone in their family) to a particular infection/illness, they should check with their family doctor. They can also ring 0800 IMMUNE (0800 466 863) or Healthline on 0800 611 116 for advice.

In an outbreak, those who haven’t been immunised may need to be excluded or quarantined.

 Curriculum Information Evening – postponed
We had planned for an information evening in a few weeks time, but a number of things have impacted on our ability to run this and so we have decided to postpone it until early in the new term.
