Staffing 2017 – Farewells and Welcomes
“The only constant in life is change”.   Change is an opportunity for both teachers and schools to bring new ideas and fresh thinking to a new team.  While it is sad to say goodbye to good friends, it is also exciting to welcome new friends to our school.
The end of this year sees us farewelling a few people from our team;
Brian Taylor is retiring, John Keoghan is moving to Long Bay Primary (and welcoming a new baby to the family), Leila Twinn has accepted a promotion to manage the ECE centre at Kristin, Susan Cameron-Smith is extending her technology specialist role at Glenfield Intermediate, and Harmony Weston is accepting a new challenge teaching Year 7s’ at Remuera Intermediate. All five will be missed and we have appreciated their many contributions to our school in their time here.
We are delighted to welcome the following staff for 2017; Shirley deVilliers,  Nicola Tyler and Katie Ford. All have visited the school in the last few weeks and have already started to feel like part of the team. We have other appointments in the pipeline and will advertise once confirmed. At this stage we are still looking for a new property manager (Mr Taylor is very hard to replace!!) so if you know of someone that might be interested please direct them to the school website for more information.
 Helpers Morning Tea – Thursday 10.30am
Every year we like to take some time to celebrate and thank those people who volunteer in our school. There are so many fabulous people who help us out each year that it would be difficult to send individual messages, so we would like to extend an open invitation to those special people who have regularly helped us this year; Road Patrol parents, Walking School bus drivers, Kauri Club readers, PMP helpers, Enviro Club helpers, Sports coaches and managers to name a few.
(Please RSVP to the office for catering purposes.)
Please make sure that you have these dates saved:
  • School Prizegiving and Year 6 graduation – Monday 12th December – Please be seated by 11am
  • Farewell Assembly for leaving staff (presentations from the children) – Tuesday 13th December – 11am

PLEASE NOTE:  End of season next Wednesday (14/12). As the final games are after school has finished for the year we need to arrange for all shirts to be returned to the school. Lego Christmas Tree
Taller than a two-storey house and built from over half a million LEGO bricks, the LEGO Christmas Tree  will land in Auckland on 25 November to light up Aotea Square until 27 December.

Designed and built specially for kiwi LEGO fans, the jaw-dropping giant LEGO Christmas Tree stands over 10 metres tall, weighs 3.5 tonnes and took more than 1,200 hours to build.

Decorated with some distinctly kiwi-themed festive additions including a life-size Santa with a surfboard, a pukeko and a kiwi, the massive tree will come to life each evening at Aotea Square from 7 pm onwards with a spectacular light and sound show.

While you’re there pick up a copy of the Auckland Live Summer in the Squarebrochure. Packed full of FREE summer entertainment, activities and events happening from December to February, it’s your one-stop guide to summer fun.
