News from the Principal

 Planning for 2017
As in any school, there are many things that influence how we organise our school, and we endeavour to keep you informed as best we can.   We are in the process of organising the school for 2017; class lists, staffing placements, new staffing appointments, property allocations, new classrooms.    If you know that you are going to be moving away from the school next year, can you please inform the school office so we can factor that into our planning.  If you know of families considering joining our school next year, can you please ask them to make contact with us also.
We do not currently have an enrolment zone, but this has been discussed with us by the Ministry of Education. We are required to consult with community as part of the implementation process, so you will be fully informed if this goes ahead.
Community Of Learning  (CoL)    We have completed two major events for the Community of Learning in recent weeks; combined meetings for Boards of Trustees and school teaching staffs.  The CoL framework will begin in earnest next year as we begin to appoint staff from our various schools to leadership positions, and begin the cluster-wide professional learning plans.  We will offer some information sessions for parents next year to explain in greater details the overall goals of the Community and the specific goals as they relate to our school.
Hats, Hats,Hats   PLEASE ensure your child comes to school each day with a named sunhat. They are welcome to leave it at school. We have sunblock available for during the day if needed, but encourage families to apply this at home at the start of the day.  If children do not have a sunhat, we require them to play or sit in the shade areas.
Breakers and the Wildcats.   Good luck to the WR Wildcats as they open for the Breakers this Thursday evening – very exciting!!   I know there will be lots of support for the team, and that they will play their very best.
Labour Day holiday – MONDAY 24th October
Please remember that there is a national holiday on Monday and that the school will be closed.
Have a fabulous day and we will see you back on the Tuesday morning.

Reminders

School Notices are available on the school website.

  • Sun Safety – Just a reminder that as we head into summer (hopefully) children will need sunhats at school every day.  Please make sure they are named.
  • Attendance – Please ensure that your children arrive at school on time and that we are aware of their absence by 9.00am each day.  We do follow up lateness and absence as we are required to report on both to the Ministry of Education and the Board of Trustees.  If you are planning a holiday in term time please advise your child’s teacher and the office.
