Tēnā koutou katoa,

As we move towards the end of the school year, what a busy and exciting time we are having. This week alone we have celebrated huge successes at Cluster Athletics and enjoyed a Travelwise Wheels day.

Monitors Pool

On Thursday, 50 Year 5 and 6s went to the Glenfield Pools and enjoyed a fun and exciting day including a sausage sizzle lunch.  They had great fun on the hydro-slide and in the pools. This event was to mark the contribution that the children have made to our school throughout this year. Thank you to Ms. Maxwell for organising this event.

Wheels Day

Today children had great fun on their scooters and bikes at school.  It was great to see bikes and scooters decorated in Christmas tinsel, with riders decked out in Santa hats and Elf costumes.  At lunchtime the whole school gathered for a parade of the best decorated bikes and scooters, with Aria C and Yasmin H, Kobe T and Alex P declared the winners. The event was run by our wonderful Travelwise Ambassadors: Sadie, Raina, Ina, Jirah, Max and Maggie with the help of Mila, Emanuel, Christian and Jackson.  A big thanks to Matt from Auckland Council who came along and Mrs Brown for organising such a great day.

Next Week

On Monday, we are looking forward to our Whole School Prizegiving at 11am in our newly renovated Hall. All parents are invited to attend.  Here the progress and achievement of our students will be celebrated.  We will also officially farewell our Year 6 students as they graduate and prepare to go onto intermediate school next year.

On Tuesday afternoon in the Hall, our Tui students will participate in their dance competition which marks the conclusion of their Dancing with Johnny programme. We are looking forward to welcoming Year 5/6 students’ parents to watch their talented children for their performance.

On Friday, the Year 6s will have their leaving party organised by the PTA, where there will be fun games and activities as well as a PTA provided lunch.

Finally, on Friday afternoon the students will also get to meet their new teachers when they visit their new classes.  Parents will receive official notification of 2021 class placements when they receive their child’s end of year report.

Have a great weekend everyone, and between the madness and excitement of Christmas preparations, I hope that you will be able to have some rest and relaxation.

ESOL End of Year Celebration

Last Friday all the children who attend our ESOL classes had a fun morning playing games on the field. These included an egg and spoon race, sack races, skipping and a three legged race.  The events finished with a hot chip and pizza lunch and  New Zealand pavlova for dessert. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had lots of fun. I would like to thank our Year 6 ESOL students for leading the activities and also our ESOL team teachers for organising the event.

Glenfield Music Centre is a government-subsidized music school, funded by the MOE Out of Hours Music and Arts scheme. Part of our criteria is that we make these classes available to all local children.
We are hosted by Glenfield Intermediate, but we have students attending from more than 40 local schools. Lessons are around $200 for the year and our enrolments are open soon.
We offer weekly group lessons in classical instruments to children from Year 3-Year 8.
Spaces are limited, but we don’t want anyone to miss out! We are hosting a free event at the end of this week (Saturday November 28th) which all students are welcome to come along
and try out the instruments we have on offer.
