GUMBOOT UP –  FRIDAY APRIL 5th  We will be participating in the Gumboot Day fundraising in a few weeks to support the goal of having free counselling for all children who need it.  Having depression is like walking through mud every day.  So on Friday 5 April 2019, we’re asking you to show your support. Put your gumboots on, bring a gold coin to donate, and take a walk in their shoes for just one day.  It’s a fun way for kiwis to join in the mental health conversation, while raising money to provide FREE and timely counselling for any kid in need.  We will  remind you a few days before the 5th.  Time to go and buy yourself some funky gumboots!    Take a look at the website for more information.
Board of Trustees Election 2019 – Later this year we will be holding an election to appoint trustees to the board that governs our school.  Under the current system of education delivery, schools are governed by a representation of parent and/or local community members who are invested in the success of their local school.  We will be calling for nominations in the near future, and suggest that if you have some interest you should review the material available on the School Trustees Association website, or read this booklet about the role of trustees.  They have a series of free workshops that you can attend that provide more information also, and these are listed on the website.

Chickenpox  – We have been notified of a case of Chickenpox in the school, we have added this link which has information Ministry of Health – Chicken Pox.  Please contact your doctor if you notice any of the symptoms.

Measles – There has also been confirmed cases of Measles in Auckland though not on the North Shore. We would like to remind parents that if your child has not been vaccinated and we are notified of a case at Windy Ridge School, the health dept requires us to send your child home for a minimum of 2 weeks. Schools and child care centres have the legal power to exclude unvaccinated children when there is a risk of measles being spread. Ministry of Health – Measles

Working Bee – Saturday March 23rd – We are looking for helpers to come and give us a hand on two big jobs.  Firstly we would like to build the sandpit for the junior playground, and the second project is clearing the fenceline behind Tui team classrooms. If you are able to help with either of these tasks, can you please contact the office and let us know.  Our plan is to work from 9.30 am on the 23rd, and people can come and go as their schedule allows them to help out.

Dear Windy Ridge Parents and Caregivers
We’d like to give you a huge thank you for the fantastic welcome we have had to the school. We started with a roar and bookings have been so strong, we’ve had to recruit more staff to cope! You’ll be seeing some new faces around the hall in the next few weeks, so pop in to say hello.
If you wandered past the hall this afternoon you would see that we have kicked off with our specialist Jellybeans Music programme. This will be onsite every Wednesday for the rest of this term and will be an afternoon of song, dance and music. If you are interested in joining the fun, jump onto our website to book a casual session.
We have also just released our first Holiday programme and a copy of the flyer is attached to the Newsletter. It’ll be two short weeks with Easter and ANZAC day coming in the middle, but we won’t be short on fun! We have two trip days planned, water fights, baking, sports, Nerf wars and dress ups to name a few.
Bookings can be made through our Aimy Booking site accessed via, so please get in quick as it’s going to be a fantastic two weeks. We have various booking options to suit including full days (7am-6pm), school day (8.30-3pm) and morning or afternoon sessions. You can book for the whole holidays, or pick and mix the days that suit. We have discounts for multiple children and OSCAR subsidies are also available for qualifying families.
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you in the holiday programme.
Kind regards
The sKids Windy Ridge Team.

KickStart Breakfast – The breakfast club is now running in the hall everyday from 8.30am to 8.50am, for any child who would like to have some weetbix, milk and fruit before school.  We are looking for adults to help supervise the breakfast, if you have some free time in the morning contact the office.  We are running low on canned fruit for the breakfasts, if you would like to donate a can of fruit please drop it at the office.
