Last newsletter
This is our last newsletter for the year.  I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you on behalf of the staff for the many kind words and messages received over the year from families in our school.  Teaching is a complex job – equal parts process, knowledge and emotion.  It is the kindness of others that often gets us through the more difficult times in the week or year.   It has been a huge year for WRS, and we have all learned a lot.   I hope you all have a enjoyable summer break with your families, and we look forward to seeing you all back in February.
The school will be closed from 12.30 on Monday 17 December, and reopens for the children on Monday 4th February at 8.30am.
The office will be open from Wednesday 30 January should you need to get in touch before school starts.
 School Organisation 2019
We have now confirmed staffing and have organised the teams for next year.  There are some changes based on our desire to build some familiarity of staff into new teams for our students.   We have spent considerable time considering the needs of both learners and teachers in the process.
Teams for 2019 are:
Fantail Team – Nicola Tyler (Team leader), Katie Ford, Sarah Huppler
Pukeko Team – Jude Tabuteau (Team leader), Lynley Bendall, Caroline Andrews, Shirley Crosby
Falcon Team – Sarah Turner (Team leader), Nick Upton, Caroline Walker, Angela Hall, Hannah Ross Thompson
Tui Team – Jane Brown (Team leader), Amanda Hurley, Heidi Fegan
Reading Recovery and Music specialist – Debra Lewis
Other support/release teachers –  Rosie Cook, Sue Ogden
On Friday all the students will be spending some time with their 2019 team and Whanau teacher, getting to know the other children in their class and the teachers in their team.   Some children find this process very easy, and others find change difficult.   We talk with the children about the cycle of new beginnings in all our lives, and encourage them to look for the positives and opportunities in a new year.  Please support your child at home with this also.
On this day they will also bring home an envelope containing information about their new team and class, any letters about trips and programmes for term 1, along with the end of year report (with the exception of Room 4 students who have received a report already this term).
School Happenings
Please check the school calendar for term dates and information.  You can find it on the website and on Skool Loop.
