Room 2 did our own version of the lolly science experiment, just without the lollies!
We used four different colours of food colouring and added 3 drops of each to containers of milk. Then we waited and we waited and we waited. There was a lot of discussion about which container’s colours were moving the fastest, not that we’re competitive!!!! Also lots of wondering about why this was happening.
We talked about other liquids we could use instead of milk, Hayden suggested lemonade, which we all thought would be really interesting because we weren’t sure what the bubbles would do to the food colouring. Unfortunately we had to settle for water as there was no lemonade on hand. We set up the same colours with water and compared what was happening in each container. A great mornings work by Room 2 students.
Note from the teacher – don’t do this on a brightly coloured background!!!! Didn’t think that one through did I.
